Wilderness Mule Outfitting is a great choice if you are looking for a true wilderness hunt experience. I have hunted multiple times with Caleb and will certainly be back for more. Incredible wilderness experience in some of the most beautiful land this country has to offer. The experience is a 10/10 - incredible country, top notch guides, hard but fun physical hunt, excellent pack animals, extremely comfortable back country camp and top quality best food (it's actually good, not just hunting camp good).Posted on Colin PageTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had the opportunity to take my two sons elk hunting by booking a trip of a lifetime with Caleb and the Wilderness Mule Outfitters team. Wow! What an experience! You won’t find a finer place to experience a real adventure on the lower 48. From the pack in, to our remote camp site, the daily hunting expeditions, and the camp accommodations, nothing could have been finer! And if you start taking about your meals at this camp, it would take a page! Like a 5 star restaurant! Great food and great ambiance at ever setting. Got back from another incredible hunting trip in Idaho’s Frank Church Wilderness with Caleb and the boys at Wilderness Mule Outfitting, and it somehow exceeded expectations again. The country out there is truly wild and breathtaking - rugged, remote, and absolutely unforgettable. Caleb and his team go above and beyond. They work hard, know the terrain and the game inside and out, and make the entire experience seamless. You can tell they genuinely care about their clients and about doing things the right way. The camp food deserves its own mention -thoughtfully sourced, well prepared, and exactly what you want after long days in the backcountry. Already looking forward to next year. Highly recommend!Posted on Eric SheppardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From start to finish, our Idaho hunting experience exceeded every expectation. The combination of breathtaking landscape, expert guides, and abundance of wildlife observed made it more than just a hunting trip - it was a full adventure. The horseback riding through rugged terrain was absolutely incredible. Riding through the wilderness, and literally on the edge of the mountainous terrain gave us a sense of connection to nature you just don’t get anywhere. The horses and mules were well trained and Caleb insured everyone felt comfortable and confident. The culinary experience was out of this world. After day in the field, we were treated to a hearty gourmet meal showcasing chef Andrews capabilities creating incredible plates, many with the meat and ingredients personally harvested. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and sharing these meals around the table, created a warm welcoming atmosphere. What truly set this trip apart was the focus on relationship building. Whether it was bonding with the hunters in the group, sharing stories around the dinner table or learning from Caleb, the sense of camaraderie was unforgettable. It wasn’t just about the hunt - It was about creating lasting memories and friendships. If you’re looking for an adventure that combines world class hunting, authentic western horseback riding exceptional food, and meaningful connections , Wilderness Outfitters provides an experience second to none. Unforgettable Adventure with an Exceptional Hunting Guide in Idaho’s Frank Church Wilderness! I recently had the absolute privilege of embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime hunting trip in the breathtaking Frank Church Wilderness of Idaho, and I can’t recommend our guide, Caleb and his phenomenal team highly enough! My two sons and I joined for what turned out to be an epic father-son experience, culminating in us harvesting a magnificent Black bear that we’re still raving about. From start to finish, every aspect was handled with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for the outdoors. Caleb was knowledgeable, patient, hard-working and incredibly skilled at navigating the terrain. He and his entire team went above and beyond to ensure our hunt was not only successful but also filled with laughter, excitement and unforgettable memories. They were tireless in their efforts, scouting tirelessly, setting up excellent opportunities, and adapting to whatever the day threw our way. And let’s talk about the camp chef, Andrew—wow. Wow. Wow! The meals were nothing short of spectacular, with gourmet-level dishes prepared fresh that rivaled and frankly surpassed most high-end restaurants. From hot breakfasts to get us going, to well thought-out dinners to end the day. Nightly dinner helped end a rugged and exhausting day with comfort and surprising culinary excellence. The accommodations were spacious cabin tents that were incredibly comfortable, and warm from a wood-fire stove. The setup was functional and well-maintained, allowing us to rest easy after long days in the Frank Church hills. A quick note for future hunters: The Idaho mountains are no joke—they’re challenging and demand respect. Do yourself a favor and show up in good shape; it’ll make the trek even more enjoyable. I am 61 and in good shape. It was challenging. That said, the team takes exceptional care of you every step of the way, providing support, guidance, patience and encouragement to ensure everyone gets to success .....and a lot of fun every step of the way. If you’re dreaming of an authentic, thrilling hunt in one of America’s most pristine wilderness areas, book with Caleb and his outstanding team. They turned our trip into an absolute triumph, and we’re already planning our return. Five stars aren’t enough—thank you for the adventure of a lifetime!Posted on Derek JulianTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. FAQs
Do I need to draw tags in order to book a trip?
No sir! All of the hunts we offer grant you access to our Outfitter Allocated tags. Simply book a trip with us, and not only will you be guaranteed tags, we will even handle purchasing them for you so you have nothing to worry about.
Where exactly are you located?
We are located in Central Idaho’s remote Frank Church Wilderness area. As remote as someone can truly get in the lower 48, we are hours from the nearest paved road in the heart of the largest wilderness complex in America. We charter flights for all our guests from the nearest town of McCall, Idaho typically, but we can also arrange for flights from Boise by request.
How difficult is a wilderness hunt?
There are many places to hunt that are far easier than the Frank. This is some of the steepest country imaginable and not for the faint of heart. While some of our hunts like Late Season Mule Deer are far more demanding than our Baited Bear Hunts, be prepared to push yourself to new limits. Our hunts are not for everyone, but if serious adventure is something you desire there are few places as wild left in the world.
How many hunters are in camp at a time?
Most of our hunts are intentionally limited to 3 hunters in camp at a time for the best experience. The only exception would be for groups of 4 that book together or spot & stalk bear and late season mule deer which are limited to 2 hunters.
I'm ready to book a trip, what do I do now?
Contact us via the Book Now page or give us a call (208) 921-7749 and we can chat more about availability and if a trip with us is a good fit for you.
